Soldbuch of Oberschuetze Willi Beese, Landesschuetzen-Bataillon 739

Willi Beese, a retired administrative official, was drafted into the German Army in September 1944 at the age of 59. He was issued a captured gas mask, a French rifle and bayonet, and was assigned to a Landesschuetzen unit performing security duties in Germany such as guarding POWs. His discharge document states that he suffered from senility and was to be assigned no duty.
